The ring main unit is designed based on a ring-shaped distribution network, where the power supply trunk forms a closed loop. The power source feeds into this ring trunk, and then distributes electricity to individual distribution branches via high-voltage switches (such as load break switches). Its advantages include:
Dual-power backup: Each distribution circuit can draw power from trunk lines on both the left and right sides. When one trunk line fails, the other side automatically continues to supply power, effectively achieving a dual-power-like configuration and significantly enhancing power reliability.
Load switches paired with fuses: The load switch handles normal operating currents, while the fuse disconnects short-circuit currents. Together, they replace complex circuit breakers, making them ideal for medium- and small-capacity distribution applications (typically with distribution capacities ≤1250 kVA).
